About me

My own first-hand experience of the value of supervision from day one as a qualified interpreter has led me to train and qualify as a professional supervisor (2020). I believe that a safe space to critically reflect on our professional practice, including how our personality, relationships and lives interact with our work is a vital part of building resilience and laying the foundation for a sustainable and fulfilling career as an interpreter. Most importantly supervision should support us becoming the best practitioner we can be, to the benefit of the communication situations we are part of.

I trained as a supervisor alongside counsellors and therapists and I am in the process of qualifying to be an integrative counsellor and coach. The skills included in those disciplines have rounded out and informed my supervision practice in a unique way, and equip me with a very broad range of tools and techniques to support each supervisee in a truly tailor-made way.

In the counselling space, I work with trauma and therefore have an awareness of the complex impact of trauma on wellbeing, resilience and all aspects of life, and hold this awareness in all of the work that I do. I am confident working with a range of neurodiversity, and I am neurodivergent myself (ADHD).

I’m happy to provide supervision in either English or BSL. I work online but am able to work face to face where an organisation or group wants to book in person sessions and can facilitate a confidential accessible space for this.

(I also offer supervision to other professionals in what are often called the “helper” professions including workers in Charities, social care and education who often experience ethical dilemmas, are exposed to vicarious trauma and risk of burnout in a similar way to that commonly reported in the interpreting profession.)
